The objective of the Texas Tech Ph. D. program in Business Administration is to develop doctoral
candidates who are competitive for university positions on a national and international basis. Thus, the primary emphasis
of the degree is to prepare individuals to hold a professorial position in a major field within business administration. Attaining
a professorial position requires demonstrated research ability, academic field knowledge, and one or more supporting fields.
The Ph. D. in Business Administration requires candidates: 1. To have the ability to effectively analyze literature in their field.
2. To have the ability
to effectively synthesize literature in their field.
3. To have a breadth of research knowledge including
knowledge of theories of research and research methodology.
4. To have acquired expertise in their
field of emphasis and supporting fields.
5. To be able to communicate complex information clearly
and coherently.
